I finished watching the latest series of Race Across The World last night, and there was some worthy winners! No spoilers though!
As someone who loves all things travel I would absolutely LOVE to take part in something like that, and it definitely makes me think about taking some proper time off and going off the beaten path for a bit. Travel opens the eyes in so many ways, and although my travel time was some years ago (and admittedly quite different!), it is something that changed my life, and I would encourage anyone I know to get out there and do it.
What the show also shows is that there’s a sense of adventure in everybody, and no matter what your age if you put your mind to something, anything is possible. This can be the same in the workplace.
I heard on the radio this morning about a 50 year old woman who quit her job to be a DJ (performing at Glasto no less!) all because of hearing the phrase “an annual salary is a ‘drug’ that employers feed you to forget your dreams.”
I don’t want this to be me. I don’t want to look back on my years and think “what did I do?”. My sense of adventure definitely still lives inside me, but adulting can often get in the way.
Why am I writing this? Basically it’s to say if you have dreams go for it. Don’t let life get in your way. Don’t have £182 left when you could have £1.48 at the end of it all. Work to live, not the other way around.
