For 2019 it has been fun developing the online presence of Reading and Leeds through the work that I create for it’s (many!) social channels.
The examples shown here are still shots taken from a selection of videos and animations I have created for Reading and Leeds 2019. They are a few of many! As the audience is constantly engaging with social media, they have high expectations for brands such as this one. They are visual, engaged people, and so the majority of the work I create for R&L is now animated, created using a combination of Illustrator and After Effects.
For 2019 the branding has become quite edgy, driven by online trends of duplicated text, glitchy videos, layering and a retro VHS feel. This has been fun to play around with and develop, and my skills in After Effects have rocketed!
The videos I work on range from instructions on how to get involved with the ticketing instalment plan, to competitions to adverts for the Reading and Leeds apps. For me, it is always most fun to work on announcement videos and teasers as you can instantly see the audience excitement when it is posted online, and immediately see the impact of my work on ticket sales.
On all the content I produce, I work closely with the social team to put ideas together, always with the target audience in mind.
