Community Festival is a London based one day music event, new for 2017 and based in Finsbury Park. I have been working on it since it’s first year, becoming the lead designer as of Community 2018.
The branding uses strong, bold shapes and patterns, with a limited colour palette, and has developed year on year based on trends. Over the years it has been implemented across multiple assets from marketing materials such as HTML5 web banners and social media posts, right up to full scale print materials for use on site. One of the most successful social pieces of 2017 was the 500m “selfie board” (created by me!) which utilised the brand in the entrance and ticketing space, encouraging festival goers to take photos, share online and use the Community hashtag. It has now become a permanent fixture at the festival!
One of the fun (and my favourite!) features of the Community branding is it’s versatility – here is a peak at how it was developed for 2018 and how the line up poster came to life across social media assets, including band content. This animated totem was used across multiple social posts and developed into the stage holding screen visible to the masses in between sets.
