Is it too late to wish everyone a Happy New Year? It is mid January after all!
The back end of last year was my one of my busiest yet, I felt like a plate spinner managing client requests – I’m not going to lie it was at times stressful (I’m not sure I slept during July tbh!) but it was certainly great to be in demand, and a happy place to be. That said, after a hectic last working week of December I decided to take some extra time this side of Christmas to recharge the batteries. I’ve so far filled 2022 with brisk walks with various friends, tearooms and dogs, plus an impromptu visit from one of my favourite people and my even more favourite puppy and a definite digital detox.
It is at this time of year that I look back at the year that has passed, and look forward to the new and exciting year ahead – I think of it as a clean slate yet to be drawn on and wonder where I will be this time next year…
Admittedly 2021 was a great year for me on the freelance front. I was busier than ever before and took on some new clients along the way. I worked with some EXCELLENT folks (I didn’t know Project Management could be so good) and some FANTASTIC projects. As well as returning for a second year of Soccer Aid for Unicef to work on a campaign that would turn out to be their best yet in terms of funds raised, I also started working regularly on accounts such as Mitsubishi, YouGov and Accenture through a London design agency. This was one of those random being in the right place at the right time events that come around and somehow work out better than ever imagined. Through this opportunity I’ve worked with some fantastically creative and experienced folks. The team have all worked together for years and it’s great to have established a working connection with them.
Hopefully this will continue, but one thing I have learned about freelancing is that things are always in flux, connections move on and times change.
That said, I have already got quite a few bookings to take me through to early April, but I’m always on the look out for new clients and projects. I genuinely try to accommodate wherever possible so please do get in touch with your design needs and/or crises and if I can’t help, I do try to rack my brains for someone who can 🙂
On that note, I hope your 2022 is going to be a smasher and one that can be looked back on as a year to remember! All the best for the year ahead and good luck for the ventures planned and the adventures as yet unknown. And Happy New ’22!
